Yantai City Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital held a health promotion event for students in schools during the National Eye Care Day.
On June 6, 2025, the 30th National Eye Care Day arrived as scheduled. This year's theme is "Pay Attention to Universal Eye Health". In response to the national call, to popularize scientific eye care knowledge and protect the vision health of children and teenagers, the Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital of Yantai City organized experts from the ophthalmology department and the massage department to visit several primary and secondary schools in Yantai City, delivering a series of lively and informative, yet practical eye care and protection knowledge lectures to the children, sowing the seeds of health into the school campuses.
In recent years, childhood and adolescent myopia has shown a trend of high incidence and younger age. The "little glasses" problem has touched the hearts of countless families. Experts focused on students' daily study and life, explaining the magical process of vision formation, what myopia is, the bad habits that harm the eyes, and scientific eye care tips in an easy-to-understand way. The experts particularly emphasized that at least 2 hours of daytime outdoor activities every day is very important for preventing myopia. They encouraged children to go outdoors more often to "bathe" in sunlight and at the same time to have a balanced diet and eat more foods rich in vitamin A, lutein, and zeaxanthin, which are very beneficial for the eyes.
The atmosphere at the lecture was lively. Children consolidated their knowledge of eye care in a relaxed and enjoyable environment and mastered practical eye care skills. This event was warmly welcomed and highly praised by teachers and students from various schools and kindergartens. Teachers said that the form of experts coming to the campus to give lectures was very effective. The content was professional and close to students' actual situations, filling the professional gap in school health education. Students also said that through this activity, they truly realized the importance of protecting eyesight and learned how to use eyes scientifically.
