Join hands to build a defense line for drug safety | Yantai Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine establishes the "Monitoring and Escort" publicity station
To enhance the public's awareness of safe medication use, on September 3rd, the Clinical Pharmacy Department of Yantai Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital jointly organized a safety medication awareness promotion event with the Yantai Food and Drug Inspection and Testing Center, held on the second floor of the hospital's outpatient building. Clinical pharmacy pharmacists provided medication consultation and answered questions for patients on the spot, effectively safeguarding the safety of patients' medication use.
In response to the inquiries from visiting patients, the department head, Su Jiahang, explained common issues such as medication dosage and timing in detail. Regarding the problems of elderly patients' unclear medication methods and multi-drug combination use, the department head provided patient-friendly guidance one by one, solving the patients' doubts and making them leave satisfied. The deputy director of the Clinical Pharmacy Department, Sun Ying, answered questions for patients taking Chinese patent medicines and Chinese herbal decoctions, explaining the usage methods, treatment courses, and precautions for boiling and taking, and providing professional advice on the use of Chinese and Western medicines in combination. The consultation atmosphere was lively, and the detailed explanations of the pharmacists planted the seeds of safe medication use in the hearts of the patients.

At the event site, the "Monitoring and Guarding" publicity station used electronic devices to continuously play safety medication awareness promotion videos, attracting many visiting patients to stop and watch. At the same time, hospital staff distributed promotional materials such as "Common Knowledge about Adverse Drug Reactions" and "Joining Hands to Build a Drug Safety Line" to patients, covering patients using traditional Chinese medicine, Western medicine, and Chinese patent medicines, enabling patients with different needs to conveniently receive medication safety education during waiting and medication collection processes, and effectively creating a favorable atmosphere of "Everyone Paying Attention to Medication Safety".
This publicity activity took advantage of the "Drug Safety Promotion Week Activity" and was carried out through the newly established "Monitoring and Guarding" publicity station. Through providing reasonable medication guidance to the public, it effectively enhanced patients' awareness of safe medication use. Director Yin Aiqun of the Yantai Food and Drug Inspection and Testing Center pointed out during the event that clinical pharmacy pharmacists should fully play their role in guiding safe medication use, adhere to the bottom line of drug safety, and through clinical monitoring and public education, thereby comprehensively improving the public's knowledge of drugs and their ability to use medications safely.
