The Medical Imaging Professional Committee of the Yantai City Traditional Chinese Medicine Society has been established: Leading the new development of traditional Chinese medicine imaging science through academic innovation.
On August 31st, the establishment meeting and the first academic conference of the Medical Imaging Professional Committee of the Yantai City Traditional Chinese Medicine Society concluded successfully. The conference brought together over a hundred experts and scholars from several well-known hospitals in the province, focusing on the core concept of "integration and innovation, standardized development", and establishing a high-level academic platform for the traditional Chinese medicine imaging discipline. At the establishment meeting, through strict and democratic procedures, a total of 143 members, 33 vice-chairmen, 13 deputy chairmen and the chairperson were elected. Professor Jiang Zhonghua from the Imaging Department of Yantai Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital was elected as the first chairperson. The Party Secretary and President of Yantai Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, Wang Yunqiang, attended the conference and delivered a speech. He warmly welcomed the arrival of all experts and scholars and emphasized the important role of medical imaging in the modernization process of traditional Chinese medicine.

Professor Wang Jianguo, the chairperson of the Shandong TCM Medical Imaging Society, and Professor Wang Ximing, the chairperson of the Radiology Society of the Shandong Medical Association, respectively delivered speeches, expressing their high recognition and anticipation for the establishment of the Medical Imaging Professional Committee of the Yantai TCM Society.
This academic conference brought together more than 10 top experts from within Shandong Province, including Professor Liu Huang from Shandong Provincial Hospital, Professor Wang Ximing from Shandong First Medical University, and Professor Wang Jianguo from the Affiliated Hospital of Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. They conducted in-depth discussions on three core academic topics.
Standardization of Traditional Chinese Medicine Imaging: The expert team focused on discussing the construction of an imaging diagnostic indicator system based on the "diagnosis through syndrome differentiation" theory of traditional Chinese medicine. They proposed the need to establish quantitative imaging standards corresponding to "yin-yang, cold-heat, deficiency-fulness", in order to solve the key problem of "high subjectivity and poor repeatability" in current traditional Chinese medicine imaging diagnosis.
Integration of Intelligent Technologies: Professor Wang Ximing's team shared the research results of the "artificial intelligence-assisted traditional Chinese medicine imaging syndrome differentiation system". Through big data training, AI can identify the imaging features corresponding to tongue patterns and pulse patterns, providing objective support for the "four diagnostic methods" of traditional Chinese medicine; Professor Yu Dexin focused on the application of imaging genetics in the evaluation of the efficacy of traditional Chinese medicine, proposing to conduct quantitative analysis of imaging features to study the pathological changes after the intervention of traditional Chinese medicine.
Multidisciplinary collaboration mechanism: Professor Wang Jianguo emphasized that the development of traditional Chinese medicine imaging should break the "image department working alone" model and establish a linkage with disciplines such as internal medicine of traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture department, and pharmacology. For example, through dynamic imaging monitoring of the impact of traditional Chinese medicine compound on the tumor microenvironment, a closed-loop system of "diagnosis and treatment - assessment - adjustment" can be achieved.
The meeting reached a consensus that in the future, it will rely on professional committees and be guided by academic research to modernize traditional Chinese medicine. It will establish "a traditional Chinese medicine imaging database" and "a training base for integrated Chinese and Western medicine imaging professionals", promoting the transformation of basic research into clinical applications. This will enable imaging technology to truly serve the precise diagnosis, efficacy evaluation, and mechanism explanation of traditional Chinese medicine.
The convening of this meeting not only infused academic vitality into the TCM imaging discipline in Yantai, but also established a development framework of "theoretical innovation - technological research - clinical application". Under the leadership of the professional committee, the TCM imaging field in the Jiaodong region will gradually form a distinctive and orderly academic ecosystem, contributing the "Yantai solution" to the modernization of TCM.
