Yuyun Community, Healing Hearts with Medicine - The Neurology Department of Yantai Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital Conducts Community Brain Care Education and Free Medical Consultation Activities
To popularize knowledge about brain health and enhance the awareness of brain disease prevention among community residents, and to extend high-quality medical services to the people, on September 19th, the "Brain Health Expert Team" composed of Liang Hui, the director of the Neurology Department of Yantai Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, Wang Zhenxing, the deputy director, Li Mei, the head nurse, and Song Xiaoyan, the head nurse of the day ward, braved the rain to go to the community to carry out a health education and free medical consultation activity with the theme of "Protecting the Brain, Living a Healthy Life". They provided professional medical services and health guidance to the community residents, conveying health care through practical actions. This activity was meticulously divided into three functional areas: the health education area, the free medical consultation area, and the traditional Chinese medicine nursing therapy area. Each area had clear divisions and coordinated services to ensure the efficient and orderly conduct of the activity.
The health education area spread knowledge to the hearts of the residents, with a high level of enthusiasm from the residents. They actively consulted about issues related to brain health. Director Liang Hui, using clinical typical cases and in simple and understandable language, systematically explained the key points of early identification of Alzheimer's disease, addressing the easily overlooked early symptoms such as forgetting what one has just said and getting lost when going out and returning home. He also helped residents establish the health awareness of "early detection and early intervention". At the same time, he detailed practical methods for brain health prevention from three aspects: maintaining exercise, using the brain more, and controlling underlying diseases. The content was close to real life and was unanimously recognized by the residents at the scene.
The free medical consultation area provided medical consultation and solutions for the residents' concerns. Director Liang Hui and Director Wang Zhenxing sat in the consultation area, patiently receiving each resident. They carefully inquired about the medical history and conducted physical examinations. For common problems such as dizziness, memory decline, and sleep disorders raised by the residents, they provided personalized diagnosis and treatment suggestions and medication guidance based on traditional Chinese medicine diagnostic thinking, meeting the actual health needs of the patients.

The traditional Chinese medicine nursing therapy area showcased the advantages of traditional Chinese medicine, providing meticulous services that warmed the hearts of the residents. Nurse Li Mei led the nursing team to provide ear acupuncture service, accurately selecting the corresponding ear acupuncture points and applying Wang Liuxing seeds, and guiding the residents on the pressing method: "Press 2-3 times a day, each time for 30 seconds, which can effectively relieve insomnia, dizziness, etc." Nurse Li Mei also provided杵 needle therapy services for the residents, using specially made杵 needles to gently operate on the acupuncture points, helping the residents relax their meridians and improve discomfort. The residents' on-site experience unanimously praised the professional technique and the significant improvement felt after the treatment. In addition, Nurse Li Mei demonstrated the positioning and massage techniques of the brain-protecting acupoints such as攒竹 (Zan Zhu) and 风池 (Feng Chi) to guide the residents in their daily self-care, further enhancing their ability in traditional Chinese medicine health preservation. "Not having to go to the hospital specially, enjoying expert diagnosis and treatment right at home, and having such practical traditional Chinese medicine services is so considerate!" An aunt who just experienced ear acupuncture smiled with satisfaction.
Despite the continuous rain during the event, the enthusiasm of the community residents did not wane. The atmosphere at the scene was warm and orderly. This community activity not only enabled residents to enjoy high-quality medical services from a tertiary hospital at their doorstep, but also promoted health education and traditional Chinese medicine techniques through health education and promotion, effectively enhancing residents' awareness of brain health management and self-care abilities. Yantai Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital will continue to focus on the health needs of the people, regularly carry out community free medical consultations, health education, and other public welfare activities, continuously expanding the service radius and optimizing service forms, delivering professional medical resources and warm services to the people, and safeguarding the health of the people with the original intention of medical practitioners, contributing to the construction of a healthy Yantai.
