Guardian Light News | Yantai Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital Successfully Hosts Narrative Nursing Case Competition
In order to further optimize the quality of nursing services, strengthen the hospital's internal construction, enhance the patient's medical experience and satisfaction, and promote the deep integration of the narrative medical concept into clinical nursing practice, on April 20th, afternoon, Yantai Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital successfully held the "Continue Good Life Stories, Build Warm Healing Together" narrative nursing case competition event. This event focused on enhancing the professional connotation and service warmth of nursing, striving to create a nursing service atmosphere that is warm, textured, and powerful, and helping to improve and enhance the hospital's humanistic nursing construction.
At the beginning of the event, Director Liu Meiying from the Nursing Department delivered a speech. She pointed out that narrative medicine, as an important practical carrier of medical humanities, is a key factor in enhancing the quality of nursing services, deepening nurse-patient communication, and building a warm medical environment. After fully affirming the various departments' explorations and fruitful achievements in narrative nursing over the past year, Director Liu hoped that all nursing colleagues would take this competition as a new starting point, continuously promote the integration of narrative concepts with clinical nursing, incorporate humanistic care into every detail of nursing services, and provide patients with more compassionate and soulful nursing services.

This competition received a strong response from all departments of the hospital. A total of 32 entries from 29 departments were submitted. At the competition site, the contestants closely focused on real clinical nursing cases, presenting them through various forms such as graphic slides, video performances, on-site skits, and stand-up comedy, vividly demonstrating the practical application of the five core techniques of narrative nursing - "externalization, deconstruction, rewriting, external witness, and treatment documents". One after another, real and warm stories were presented, integrating narrative nursing techniques into the entire process of clinical nursing, truly achieving the combination of technical care and humanistic care by listening to patients' stories and paying attention to their needs.
At the end of the event, Director Liu Meiying delivered a concluding speech. She first expressed her heartfelt gratitude to all the nursing colleagues for their hard work in the practice of narrative medicine, and highly praised the warm cases presented by each department and their proactive exploration. At the same time, she pointed out that the hospital's narrative nursing work is currently still in its initial stage, and in the future, efforts should be continuously made in "implementation" and "transformation". She required all the nursing staff to always uphold the service concept of "centering on patients", aiming to solve patients' practical problems, improve their medical experience and life quality, and make nursing techniques more touching and nursing services more emotionally charged, so as to promote the construction of hospital humanistic nursing to a new level.
This narrative nursing case competition not only provided a platform for all the nursing staff in the hospital to exchange experiences, learn from each other and showcase their talents, but also deepened everyone's understanding and perception of narrative nursing. In the future, our hospital will take this competition as an opportunity to continuously deepen the practice of narrative medicine, integrate humanistic care into the entire process of nursing work, and use professionalism and warmth to safeguard the health of patients, continuing to write more touching stories of life.
